Sambar

Ingredients:
Thoor dhal- 1 cup
Pearl onion- 10 nos
Garlic- 4-5 pods
Hing- 1 tsp
Vegetables- 1 cup(chopped)
Sambar powder– 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Tamarind water- 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves- 2 tsp
Salt
Tempering
Oil- 3 tsp
Mustard- 1 tsp
Methi-1/4 tsp
Onion- 1 tsp (Chopped)
Red chillie- 2 nos
Curry leaves
Method:
* Boil the Dhal with peral onion, Garlic & Hing for 2 whistles
* Heat the wok with 1 tsp oil.. Fry the vegetables 1 by 1… if you use ladies finger means prefer it first… this step will not allow the veggies to mash easily with the dhal(Note: Don’t add Tomato here)
* Cook in oil for few mins.. add the Sambar powder, Turmeric powder, Salt to the veggies & Add 1 cup of water
* When it starts to boil… add the Tomatoes, & Tamarind water..
* Cook ot for 10 mins in medium flame
* Add the cooked dhal & Bring to boil…
* Heat the pan separately with oil.. add the tempering items 1 by 1.. & add it to the Gravy..
* Garnish with Coriander leaves

Vegetables, Masala & Turmeric water

 Boil the Dhal with peral onion, Garlic & Hing for 2 whistles,  Heat the wok with 1 tsp oil.. Fry the vegetables 1 by 1… if you use ladies finger means prefer it first… 

 Cook in oil for few mins.. add the Sambar powder, Turmeric powder, Salt to the veggies & Add 1 cup of water


When it starts to boil… add the Tomatoes, & Tamarind water..Cook ot for 10 mins in medium flame

Add the cooked dhal & Bring to boil…Garnish with Coriander leaves


For Tempering

Heat the pan separately with oil. add the tempering items 1 by 1.

 add it to the Gravy..


Can be served with Idli/ Dosa/ Rice
