Lauki Kofta/Bottle Gourd Kofta Curry

Lauki Kofta or Bottle gourd kofta, is a best side dish for all types of Indian Flat Bread, Creamy Tomato gravy is the base dumped with deep fried bottle gourd fries..
Its not big tough work behind this curry.. only thing you should in a quick action after started the things.. here the bottle gourd oozes water.. so have to fry them as soon as its grated.. cooking the masala is another step you have to be give attention.. cook the masala for minimum 20- 3 mins in medium flame till they cook well and shrink the tomato paste.. Lets go with recipe first…

Lauki Kofta

Prep Time: 10 mins    |  Cook time: 40 mins   |  Serves: 2

Ingredients

Onion 2 nos
Tomato 2 nos
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tsp
Cashew nut 5-6
Green chili  1 nos
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Chillie Powder 1/4 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Jeera 1/2 tsp
Bay Leaf 1
Salt as per taste
Fresh Cream 2 tsp

For Kofta

Lauki/Bottel Gourd  1 nos
Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Graham masala 1/4 tsp
Salt as per taste
Besan Flour 3-4 tsp
Oil to fry

Method

   1. Peel out the Skin of bottle gourd, grate it in a grater, Squeeze the water from the bottle gourd, reserve the water for later use.. add chillie powder, turmeric powder, graham masala, besan flour and salt together..

  2. Mix them well and make lemon sized even balls out of it..

    3. Heat the Pan with oil and deep fry the koftas not in high flame cook in medium flame and allow this to cook completely..

    4. Take Tomato, Onion, Cashew, green chili in a blender and grind it to a smooth paste..

   

   5. Here the deep fried koftas… heat the kadai with oil and temper it with jeera and bay leaf..

    6. Add in the grinder paste and Ginger Garlic paste, cook it till the oil ooze out from the masala..
    7. Add in Chilli powder, turmeric powder and graham masala, salt to the masala and cook it for few mins in medium flame, add a cup of water and the reserved bottle gourd water to the masala allow this to boil well.. thats it.. cook till they reach the creamy texture, add in the kofatas, garnish with coriander leaves and fresh cream on it and serve the curry with Roti or pulav..

Notes
    • I have add chili powder to all the steps, its a bit spicy kofta if you don’t want this spicy version then skip the chillie powder to the kofta and skip the green chillie too.. 
    • usually koftas are sweet in taste, if you like then add some sugar in the last step..
    • Then preparation can be done with minced chicken, mutton, cauliflower, cabbage, or you can use your favorite veg for it..
    • Using few more tsp of fresh cream gives a rich taste..
    • You can use some mashed potatoes to the kofta..
    • Can use beaten curd instead of fresh cream..
