Cheema Chakka Thooran/ Kadda chakka Thooran/ Breadfruit curry


Cheema Chakka Thooran, bread fruit thooran i found this vegetable in a shop… remembered mom used to cook this, soft and tasty vegetable.. that too cooked with coconut masala is the most yummy part..
I Prepare this for the very first time.. it taste much much good.. we had this with garlic curry.. mom do few more recipes with this bread fruit/cheema chukka/ kadda chakka.. its little difficult to find this in our place, only in mangalorean stores or kerala stores we can see this… Can be paired with all kind of south Indian Curries.. Let you go with the recipe.

Cheema Chakka Thooran/ Kadda chakka Thooran/ Breadfruit curry
Ingredients
Cheema Chakka | 1 nos |
Turmeric Powder | 1/4 tsp |
Salt | as needed |
To Grind
Coconut | 1/4 cup |
Green chillie | 2 nos |
Garlic | 2-3 pods |
Jeera | 1 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 1/2 spring |
To Temper
Coconut Oil | 3 tsp |
Onion | 1 finely chopped |
Mustard | 1/2 tsp |
Urad dhal | 1/2 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 1 spring |
Red chillie | 2 nos |
Method
1. Peel out the Cheema chukka and chop into bit sized pieces, wash 2-3 times in water, squeeze out, add some water till they immerse, add some turmeric powder and salt to it.. boil this and cook till they turns soft and the water dries up…




Notes
- Celan the chakka and soak it salt water to retain its bright color.
- Don’t add more water to cook the chukka, add little water just to immerse it..
