Kadalai Kuruma, This Simple quorum taste great with Roti, Appam, Idiyappam, Same quorum preparation with some twist.. i always prefer kerala kadalai curry, for a change i try this curry, Taste was great..

Adidng kuruma masala enhance more taste.. its waw delicious Indian Curry.. This Taste great with Puttu too.. Black channa is the healthier one than white channa.. The same preparation can be done with peas, White peas or any other choice of yours.. Do try and let me know how it turned for you..

Kadalai Kuruma/Black Channa Kuruma

Ingredients

Black Channa 1 cup
Oil 2 tsp
Mustard 1/4 tsp
Onion 1/2 cup chopped
Tomato 1 nos
Ginger Garlic paste 1 tsp
Curry Leaves 1 spring
Chillie powder 1.5 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Garam masala 1 tsp
Salt as needed

Ingredients to Grind

Coconut 1/4 cup
Cahew nuts 4-5 nos
Green chilli 2 nos
Fennel seeds/Perunjeeragam 1/2 tsp
Jeeragam 1/2 tsp
Kasa kasa 1/2 tsp

 

Method

1. Soak the channa for 6-8mhours, Pressure cook the channa dhal for 2-3 whistles ands set them aside.. Heat a kadai with Oil, temper with mustard, Onion.. Saute this for few mins..

 2. Take all the ingredients to grind, And grind it to a smooth paste..

 3. Add in the ginger Garlic paste and Curry Leaves, Fry for few mins, Add in the Green chillies and  Chopped Tomatoes to it.. Cook till the tomatoes turn mushy..

 4. Add in Chillie powder, Coriander powder, Turmeric masala, Garam Masala, Salt and Saute the masala for few mins.. cook till the raw smell goes away..

 5. Add in the boiled Channa, ix them well and add the grinded masala and boil it for 8-10, Cook till the raw smell goes away..

Notes

    • Soak the channa for 6-8 hours, if not soak the channa in boiled water for 2 hours
    • Adjust the spice in masala.
    • Adding fresh crushed garlic enhance more flavour..
