Chakka ParathamanChakka Prathaman, This payasam/Prathaman i did from the Jackfruit halwa/Jackfruit Preserve/Chakka Varatti, Already i had a post for this Chakka varatti, This time my mom took me a box of varatti, Mom know well about me Jackfruit is one of my fav fruit, which to relish in the season is the part of it..

I remember our last vacation, We were in Wayanad for a wk, and back with a big Bags of vegetable and fruits.. This year yet delay to taste the Fruit.. Though today is Tamil New Year, I Plan to post this beautiful recipe here.. Chakka Prathaman/JackFruit Payasam

Ingredients

 

Chakka Varatti/Jackfruit Preserve/Jackfruit Halwa 1 cup
Fresh Jackfruit(Optional) 1/2 cup Finely chopped
Channa Dhal 1/2 cup
Milk  1 cup
Water 1.5 cups
Coconut Milk 1/2 cup
Ghee 4 tsp
Cashew 1 tsp
Rasins 1 tsp
Coconut Bits 2-3 tsp

 

Method

 1. This is my refrigerated Chakka Varati/Jackfruit Preserve or Jackfruit Halwa..

 2. Take Channa Dhal in a Pressure Cooker and Slow cook it for 3-4 whistles in Low medium flame.. wait for the pressure release and open up, all the channa dhal’s bloomed well.

 3. Add in the  Chakka Varati/Jackfruit Preserve or Jackfruit Halwa to the pressure pan..

 4. Mash them well with the Laddle..

 5. Add 1/2 cup of water, start cook them, in low flame..  {if you have fresh jackfruit add it in this step and cook them well, if you add Jackfruit them cook the mixture for 8- 10 mins, i don’t have fresh fruit, i used the Preserved one}

 6. Cook them for 3-4 mins, Now time to add milk and dilute the payasam..

 7. Now switch off the flame and the milk and coconut milk together, mix them well..

 8. Fry the Coconut bits in ghee..

 9. Add the Cashews Raisins too fry them well .

 11. Add the Fried mix to the payasam, serve..

Notes

    • If you add fresh jackfruit then allow the mix to cook them for 10 mins.
    • Make sure to add the milk only after the flame get off.
