KovaiKaai Mezhupiratti


Kovaikaai Mezhupiratti, Kovaikaai tamil name for this vegetable.. very good diet vegetable for Diabetic patients.. Low crap veggie, comfort side dish for all time..
This is recent addition to our diet, Mezhupiratti is a kerala Cuisine, any vegetable can be done in the same procedure.. each vegetable can be tasted in unique taste by this preparation.. This suits well with all vegetarian curry, from sambar to puli kumlabu this suits well.. 77th post of continuous blogging

Ingredients
Kovai Kaai | 250 gms |
Oil/Coconut Oil | 3-4 tsp |
Jeera | 1 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 2 spring |
Green chilly | 3-4 nos |
Salt | to taste |
Turmeric Powder | 1/4 tsp |
Pepper Powder | 1/2tsp |
Onion | 1/4 cup chopped |
Method:
Wash clean the Kovaikaai, SLcie them using a sharp knife, slice them thiny
Heat a Pan with Oil Temper with Jeera (while tempering can add some mustard and Urad dhal for flavour)
Add the sliced kovaikaai and Curry leaves to the pan..
Add in the slitted green chillies, Sprinkle some salt cover and cook the veggie for 10 mins..
Once they half cooked, add some finely chopped onion to the pan.. ( i add in the middle of cooking ,since i thought to have some crunchy onions in the curry, if you want to saute this earlier, add it in the tempering session)
Add turmeric powder and pepper powder to the pan..
SAute this for a while and cook this for stir fry in medium flame till they cook soft..
All ready to serve..
