 Red coconut chutney, this is my Mom’s recipe, she usually prepare Red chutney for Idli, Dosa, even grandma also Familiar with this kind of chutney.. she never use green chilli for chutney..
Red chilli taste and smell will be different from Green chilli, This is such a easy one.. also red chillies which will always avail in all pantry.. Such a great combo with soft pillowy Idli and for Crispy Dosa.. Here i try this for a variation in taste.. Consistency of the chutney depends on the taste.. and this is my continuous 90th Post..

Red chutney 1

Ingredients

Coconut 1/2 cup
Fried channa dhal(Pottu Kadalai) 1/4 cup
Red chill 2 nos + 1 nos
Garlic 1 pod
Tamarind 1 pc
Salt to taste
Oil 1 tsp
Mustard 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal 1/2 tsp
curry Leaves 1 spring


 

Method

Take Coconut, Fried channa dhal, Garlic, Red chillie, Salt, Tamarind in a mixer, add some water, grind this smoothly, Transfer to the bowl and keep aside..

 Heat a pan with oil, temper with mustard, Urad dhal, Red chilli, curry leaves.. and add this tadka to chutney.. that’s it, serve this with your favourite Idli or dosa..
