CheckerBoard Cake

Today we are Celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary.. and for this special Occasion, i Love to mark this day with a beautiful remembrance.. Before 5 years on the same day, we had a lifetime event.. Don’t know how days rolled to 5 years.. didn’t felt that a milestone we crossed.. Faced lots of ups and down.. Though he is the one who gave me Strength, Moral Support..

Thanking God For this Beautiful life.. Don’t know Do i have the eligible for, such a Merciful Life.. He Reads My mind through my Face.. This Short milestone taught us so many things.. How to shower Love, How to Manage the Critical situation, How to Have Patience, the main thing i should admit here Maturity.. When i was newly married I’m 0% in maturity, He waited for the change, He taught the Toughest part of life by leaving me to Learn the Practical Problems, He had so much of patients. I can clearly state a point, He is the who taught me what is life? and what is Love?
Marriage is a beautiful Journey of everyone’s life, Though the other name for marriage is Responsibility, Its a matter of how you manage the time and life.. To realise my Responsibility it took a long time more than 3 years, Now With God’s Grace we are blessed, Marriages are made in heaven, Yes very true words.. But if the Marriage should done with God’s Will..

Coming to the Super Duper Recipe..

Its my long time plan to make this cake.. And took this occasion to made this beautiful cake.. Need a reason to do a Big Project rite.. And this the best of our day.. Very long time i was surprised to see this cake in web.. Then i thought Who will give a try it might be super tough to handle.. Few days back one of my Blogger Friend Aarthi Posted this Recipe.. seriously she inspired me to a core, and i marked this for our Anniversary surprise for Joe..
Jess and Joe after seeing the Outcome they both enjoyed a lot to see the Checkerboard inside the cake.. I have very less recipe wit cake frosting.. i have zero Knowledge in it.. Though Here the Whipped cream frosting is there.. and Searched few recipes, and in hands i had a good  batch of Fresh cream too.. So What’s Next? To jump into the mission rite..
And I prepared a pattern for Checkerboard, Then i baked 4 cakes, 2 in vanilla and 2 in choco flavoured.. As i had small size 18Lr Otg, i had a tedious job in the kitchen, i have to bake them one by one, it took a good enough time to baking.. However the Final result is the Main thing rite.. it was awesome.. Hope this post will Help you to Get the Idea of making Checkerboard Cake.. To my Knowledge i covered the Tricks here… If you have any other Choice of making the pattern, please share with me.. Try and Let me know how it turns for you…

Fresh Cream 2 cups
Icing Sugar 1 cup
Cocoa Powder 3/4 cup

Keep Whisker And the Bowl which is going to used icing in the refrigerator, make them cool atlas for 1 hour..

Now Prepare the Pattern for the Checker board.. Draw the Base circle of the baking in a Paper or a chart..

Measure the Diameter of the pan.. Just for calculation.. I don’t have Compass in hand, so i need to go for  a lengthy procedure..

Cut the circle as shown in the picture..

Fold them into Four pieces, To make the centre i did this step..
Now draw few lines close to each other..
Diameter of my baking pan is 18, and radius comes 9, and divide into 3 parts.. i give a mark to 3 and 6(just make it simple, you need divide the radius into 3 parts to draw 2 circles..)
Below Picture shows the circle mark..
Connect the Mark lines and form the circle..
Again Fold them into 4 pieces and cut the circle..
One circle done and cut the second circle..
Here is the pattern for your Checkerboard Cake..

Method For Vanilla/Plain Cake

Sieve 1 cup of Flour, !/2 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp of Baking Powder and set them aside.. In the Mean time preheat the oven for 10 mins @ 180C
Take the 1/4 cup of Butter in a mixing bowl, Break the Eggs one by one and Start beating them up.. Whisk them for few mins..
Add in the Vanilla Essence and beat them up..
Add in the 3/4 cup of sugar to the bowl and beat them well..
Now slowly add the sieved flour and Fold them gently..
If the batter looks too thick, then Add 1/4 cup of milk and fold the batter gently and mix the batter..
Grease the Baking pan with oil/Butter, Transfer the batter to the pan..
Put the pan inside the oven which was preheated, and set the temperature to 180C and bake for 25-30 mins..
Cool the cake and Remove the top Crust and flat the cake..
Two Cakes are ready for the pattern go..

Method For Choco Cake

Measure 3/4cup of flour and 1/4 cup of Cocoa Powder..
Sieve the Flour mix with 1/2 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 baking powder.. set them aside..
Take the 1/4 cup of Butter in a mixing bowl, Break the Eggs one by one and Start beating them up.. Whisk them for few mins..
Add in the Vanilla Essence and beat them up..
Add in the 3/4 cup of sugar to the bowl and beat them well..
Now slowly add the sieved flour mix and Fold them gently..If the batter looks too thick, then Add 1/4 cup of milk and fold the batter gently and mix the batter..
Grease the Baking pan with oil/Butter, Transfer the batter to the pan.. Put the pan inside the oven which was preheated, and set the temperature to 180C and bake for 25-30 mins.. Two choco cakes are done well..
Make them cool and remove the top crust..
Put the pattern over the Cake.. Fix the Centre piece using a tooth pick.. Cut the Inner part and outer part of the centre circle.. use a sharp knife to cut.
Carefully separate the pieces as shown below.. should be more careful in this step.. sometimes the cake may break in this point..
Same pattern for the Choco Cake.. now all the pieces are ready to assemble..

 For Choco Icing

Take the Bowl and whisker out form the refrigerator..
Take the homemade fresh cream..
Beat them using electric beater.. beat until it gets a smooth texture.. don’t beat them too much it might churn into butter..
Add in the Vanilla Essence and Icing sugar and mix them well with the Cream..
Add the Cocoa Powder and mix them well..
 Here comes the beautiful Frosting..

Assembling  the Cake

i don’t have a cake stand, I used my normal plate here,Take the Choco ring and Put Some frosting in the Edges, Set the vanilla Ring again put some frosting and put the Choco ring in the centre..
Now Spread the frosting completely over the layer..
Well spread a layer over the cake.. now set the Vanilla piece over the frosting, And Alternatively set the choco layer and vanilla cake.. and set the frosting layer, repeat the layer.. and assemble the cake..
All the four layers get set like a stack..
Spread the frosting over the cake evenly..
Fill the top of the cake with the frosting.. and to be honest, I don’t have enough idea and knowledge about frosting.. so i make this using a spoon..
Sprinkle some choco chips over the cake..
Put them in refrigerator to set.. at-least set them for 1-2 hours..

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

  • yarnsnknots – Welcome to my hobby endeavour, Crocheting has been a passion for me from my childhood. Learning it from my mum at an early childhood age, the crochet needle has been my best friend. Little did I believe that this hobby will launch me in for a big success - The Guinness World Record. This was after I had retired and successfully navigated through my best roles of a homemaker, a mum and a government officer. I attribute this success primarily to constant passion. Here is my experience, you may not think you are doing much till the time is right. So, keep that fire in you gently kindled at all times. The second most important one is never above learning, as learning never stops. The third, age is that number that holds you back, do your best at every year you get and it cannot hold you back. Belated Happy Marriage Anniversary! First few years of marriage are always crucial as lot of understanding and maturity is required that is generally lacking at that stage. You say you had 0% maturity, but looking at your cake I deny your claim . To make such a beautiful checkerboard cake lot of patience is required . only a mature person can have that patience.
