 Anchovies Curry/நெத்தலி மீன் கறி,  this pipping hot curry bedded over the hot steamed rice to pair a beautiful hands together.. in childhood these are the fish which i hate to eat.. but now it makes to drove a crazy love over these small fish..

These are a common fish variety in home town.. and they have very good health benefits when compared to the other, this is low fat fish.. but in childhood i hate t eat this because of small bones.. but now I’m running behind fish markets will i get a good fresh anchovy to feed my family.. this is how karma plays, the one you hate will be the first choice after marriage.. Mom had so many variation in this curry.. this one is the easy and normal fish curry without coconut.. i completely enjoy this Anchovy series of curry, i have few more Anchovy recipe too, will share in the coming segments.. Anchovies Curry/நெத்தலி மீன் கறி

Ingredients

Anchovy 500 gms
Oil 3-4 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
Mustard 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves a handful
Peearl Onion 1/2 cup
Green chilly 2-3 nos
Garlic 4-5 pods
Tomato 3-4 medium
Red Chilly Powder 1 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder 1 tsp
Pepper Powder 1/2- 3/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Drumstick 1 nos
Tamarind Water 1 cup
Salt to taste

 

தேவையானவை

 

நெத்தலி மீன் 500 gms
எண்ணெய் 3-4 தே.க
வெந்தயம் 1/2 தே.க
கடுகு 1/2 தே.க
கறிவேப்பிலை 3 கீற்று
சின்ன வெங்காயம் 1/2 கப்
பச்சை மிளகாய் 2-3
பூண்டு 4-5 பல்
தக்காளி 3-4
சிவப்பு மிளகாய் தூள் 1 1/2 தே.க
கொத்தமல்லி தூள் 1 தே.க
மிளகு தூள் 1/2- 3/4 தே.க
மஞ்சள் தூள் 1/4 தே.க
முருங்கை காய 1
புளி கரைச்சல் 1 கப்
உப்பு தேவைக்கு

 

Method

Chopped Tomatoes, Onion, and cleaned Anchovy
 
Heat a pan with oil, pop u the mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.. 
 
 
Add in the chopped onion and fry them for a while, till they turn transparent color.. 
 
 
Add in the Slitted Green chillies
 
 
Add in the Curry leaves
 
 
And some crushed Garlic pods.. 
 
 
Followed by chopped tomatoes. 
 
 
Cover and cook, sprinkle some salt to cook the tomatoes fast.. cook them till turn mushy and splits the oil.. 
 
 
Add all chilly powder, Coriander powder, Turmeric Powder and Pepper Powder to the pan.. 
 
 
Give a good saute, and cook this for few more mins to remove the raw smell of masala.. 
 
 
Add in the chopped drumstick. 
 
 
Mix them well and add a cup of water, cover and cook the drumsticks.. 
 
 
Like this they boiled and check the drumstick are done are not.. if need keep them in medium flame for few more mins to cook the drumsticks.. 
 
 
Add in the cleaned Anchovy
 
 
Slowly give a stir.. 
 
 
Add in the Tamarind water, salt again cover this and cook for a 8-10 mins.. 
 
 
 Add a handful of curry leaves and again cook them till they reach the desired consistency.. 
 

Notes

    • Tomatoes should cook well, atleast they should in flame for 15 mins, Only then the Drumstick will cook easily.. 
    • After adding anchovies don’t stir the curry often..
