Ila Ada

 Ila Ada/Ilai Kozhukattai, this healthy snack, Mostly done in festival for pooja, very easy recipe, This simple stuffing serves a delicious kozhukattai, no one can leave the sweet filling, the filling can be done with channa dhal, urad dhal too..

Have tasted this kozhukattai from our home town neighbours.. mom do normal kozhukattai, only once in a while we prepare stuffing kozhukattai.. was really craved for this sweet filled one.. have tried to explained here with easy procedures, hope this post helps you guys.. Rice Flour/Idiyappa Mavu 1 cup
Hot Water 1.5 cups
Salt to taste
Ghee 1 tsp
Oil 1/2 tsp
Banana Leaf 1 nos


Ingredients For Stuffing

Coconut 1 cup
Jaggery 3/4 cup
Cardamom Powder 1 tsp



Bring water to boil.. 
Slowly add the flour, before adding the four put the flame to low.. add salt along with the flour.. give a quick mix.. 
Add Ghee and Switch off the flame, when its hot enough knead them into soft dough.. 
Make even sized balls out of it.
Again heat a pan with water, don’t add much water, stuffing becomes watery.. so add 3/4 cup of water, and 3/4 jaggery.. Melt them, and strain it out to remove the dirt. 
Add coconut and mix them well.. 
Add in cardamom powder 
Once the water dries up, stuffing will be ready.. if its not getting dried, add few more scoops of coconut.. 
WAsh and cut the banana leaf and set aside, in the mean time, mix a tsp of oil with 1/4 cup of water and keep ready. 
Spread the water and oil mix in the banana leaf, Place the Rice flour balls over the leaf, spread the water and oil in another leaf and start pressing the dough, this helps to avoid the sticking of dough.. 
Place stuffing inside the Ada.
Cover it up , roll them without tearing the leaves.. 
place them into the Steamer,, 
Do the same for remaining balls. 
Cove this with a lid and bring this steam for 10-1 5mins..
See how they done.. 
Remove all the ada from the steamer and allow this to cool, and serve
    • Do the Process as soon as they cool up, once the rice flour dough gets cool, not at all possible to make into shapes..
    • If the stuffing goes too watery, then add some more coconut to make a thick mass.. 
    • While folding the leaf, carefully do, without tearing them
    • open the leaves once they cool down, Ada might break while you open in hot .. once they cooled they can be easily slip out from the leaves..
