Pudalankaai Kootu

Pudalankaai Kootu, Water sacked vegetable had a special character of Low calorie.. Snake gourd/Pudalankaai Indian Vegetable, which grows in a creeper, This vegetable looks Lengthy and long in size.. that’s this is called to be snake gourd..
I prefer Gourd vegetable, because of low crap.. less oil recipe.. i did the whole recipe in a single pan, this is very easy for me to prepare.. Nowadays i avoided to cook moongdhal in pressure cooker.. i heard, dhal which are cooked in pressure cooker had the nature of gastric.. so moong dhal, i use this for two to three times in a week.. so i prefer to cook in pan.. This is my continuous 92nd post..



SnakeGourd/Pudalankaai 200 gms
Moong Dhal 1/2 cup
Green chilly 1-2 nos
Pearl Onion 4-5
Garlic 2 pods(optional)
Tomato 1 large
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Hing 1/4 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Mustard 1/2 tsp
Chopped Onion 2 tsp
Curry Leaves 1 spring
Red chilly 2 nos
Wash, Peel the Snake gourd and chop them into small pieces, slit the green chillies and keep them aside.. 

Take moong dhal in a pan, i used my earthen pot to cook the moong dhal.. 
Add some water, and bring this to boil.. 
Cook till the dhal turns soft.. ( if you want to skip this step, then pressure cook the dhal and proceed the same.. 
Add in the chopped Snake Gourd and Green chillies to the cooked dhal and cook again.. add some turmeric powder and cook the snake gourd.. 
Cook the Snake gourd till they turn soft, add some salt an cook again.. 
Add some Hing..
In the mean time, crush the Pearl onion and jeera in a mixer.. 
Add the crushed onion paste to the pan.. 
 Also add some chopped tomatoes and cook till tomatoes get mushed.. 
Heat a pan with oil, temper with mustard, Onion, Red chilli and curry leaves..
Add the tadka to the curry.. Serve this with rice or roti.. 
Ready to Serve..
