Murungai Keerai Poriyal/Drumstick leaves fry, Drumstick tree is a nature’s gift to humans.. it has such a herbal, medicinal effect.. Highly rich in iron. all leaves, stem, flower, root, all had the rich source of medicinal effect..
Lot of yummy recipes can be prepare using this leaves, mom used to put drumstick leaves soup often.. drumstick leaves soup is good regular diet for diabetic patients… we had this in our backyard and mom utilize it for 2-3 times a week.. Now i miss all those lovely things.. early i hate to touch it and run away from drumstick and drumstick leaf recipes.. apartment life taught me the goodness.. nowadays I’m very fond of it, whenever i get this leaves, i use it..i discard the stems only, that much each leaves are precious here…cleaning this is little tedious..Okaies.. let see the recipe…
Murungai Keerai Poriyal/Drumstick leaves fry

Ingredients
Drumstick Leaves/Murungai keerai | 2 cups |
Onion | 1 nos |
Salt | as need |
Water | 1/4 cup |
Coconut | 3-4 tsp grated |
Ingredients To Temper
Oil | 2 tsp |
Mustard | 1/2 tsp |
Urad dhal+Channa dhal | 1/2 tsp+1/2 tsp |
Jeera | 1/2 tsp |
Red chillie | 2-3 nos |
Method
1. Heat the kadai with oil, Temper with mustard, urad dhal, channa dhal, Jeera and red chillie, now add in the chopped onion and sauté for few mins… Add in the cleaned drumstick leaves to the kadai, add in salt and cover it with a proper lid, let it cook for 5-6 mins in medium flame.. stir in-between..


- Clean and wash the leaves well..
- You can use the thooran masala{Coconut+green chill+jeera+Onion+Garlic } too..
- Don’t add too much of water, the taste will change..
- If its a tender leaves then no need of water..
- Adding olive oil is a healthy option.

delicious poriyal and will finish off with rasam and rice
