Semiya Upma


Semiya Upma, This is such a comfort breakfast for all the time, when ever i feel lazy i make this breakfast.. i serve this with red coconut chutney, we love the combo..
Semiya is not a high calorie one, so easy to make, so easy to serve.. if you don’t want the veggies then avoid them, mom usually never add veggies to semiya upma, also she serve a sweet version, with sugary touch.. this time i plan to serve my family with a healthy plate of breakfast, thought adding few veggies along with the breakfast seems.. no doubt, every thing vanish with in few mins.. Ingredients
Semiya | 1 cup |
Mustard | 1/2 tsp |
Urad Dhal | 1/2 tsp |
Channa Dhal | 1/2 tsp |
Onion | 1/4 cup |
G.G Paste | 1 tsp |
Green Chilly/Red Chilly | 1-2 nos |
Peas | a hand ful |
Carrot | 1nos |
Curry Leaves | 1 spring |
Water | 2 cups |
Salt | to taste.. |
Method
Heat a Pan with Oil, Temper with mustard, Urad Dhal and channa Dhal..
Once they pop well, add in the chopped onion, saute them till they turn translucent..
Add in the Ginger Garlic Paste..
Followed by Carrots and green peas.. Add salt cover and cook this for 2-3 mins, Add green chillies too..
Here is my Roasted Semiya
Add 2 cups of water and bring this to boil..
Boil this in high flame for 2-3 mins..
Put the flame to low and add in the roasted rava, give a good mix..
Cover and allow this to cook for few ins..
Once the water dries up, serve them with Chutney or sugar..
